No Grease

Me and the co-worker friend power walked a mile at lunch today and ate a healthy meal.  Then we had left over chicken from last nights dinner.  I cooked the chicken with no grease or cooking spray.   I put it in the skillet with about a quarter inch of water, seasoned it up good, and topped it off with salsa and little bit of chesse.  It was delicious, with a side of brocolli and rice.  My smoothie for breakfast also good, fat-free strawberry yogurt, fresh strawberries, oatmeal and orange juice.

I’m a Superstar!

Actually, I feel like I’m anything but a superstar.  I’ve been working so many long hours, and been too tired to workout.  But I got a cool game for my Wii, Boogie Superstar, it’s a bootleg version of the American Idol game, where you dance and sing in front of the judges.  Anybody who  knows me knows that I can’t sing or dance, LOL! That’s what made this so fun.  At first I got terrible reviews from the judges, “Add some style…try to move to the beat…go back and practice.”  But after about an hour or so, I caught on a little bit.  I was sweating my behind off, while dancing on the red carpet to a Kanye-like version of  his song “Stronger.”   It reminded me of my fun times taking cardio strip fit aerobics classes….. ALSO, I  signed up for the Komen Race for the Cure today! No more excuses!  YOU WON’T BELIEVE THIS…..Just as I was about to send this, I got a call from my weight management program saying that Kay Quinn from Channel 5 News wants to interview me as some one who has been successful with weight loss and made healthy positive life style changes.  When I asked if I’ll be on TV, her response was “Uh, Yeah!” Geez, who would thought I’d go from little old chunky me, to a TV SUPERSTAR!!!! LOL!!!

Smoothie Queen

I’m sure you noticed the big gap in days since I last worked out.  I have yet to sign up for the next 5K, that probably has something to do with my lack of motivation.  But anyway today at lunch I power walked 1 mile with the co-worker friend, and me and the lil sis and my doggie did 3 miles in the park.  My dog is so sweet and perfect at home, but in public she acts like she has no home training and charges after people and EVERY dog she passes,  I don’t know what to do.  But on the positive side, I went to the grocery store and bought strawberries, kiwi’s, pineapples, mangos and different yogurts, I’ve had the most fantastic smoothies for breakfast for the last week, I even put oatmeal in one, it was very filling, one recipe calls for spinach, I haven’t been brave enough to try that one yet!

Brawling at the Gym!

pink boxing-glovesOkay, well not really…but almost.  So I achieved my 5K goals, and decided to “reward” myself and take off a couple days from working out, which turning into an entire week… my body was so stiff, and my sexy toned calf muscles were beginning to turn into mush, it was definitely time to get moving again.  Since we were having a crap-tastic rainy April day, me and the lil sister hit the gym instead of the park.   We went up to the track and there were about 7 rude little teenagers, hugged up with each other, slow grinding against the wall and STANDING on the track, not mention the others who deliberately ran the wrong way.  Every time I went past, I said “excuse me”, So after about 30 minutes of “excuse me”, and into my 2nd mile, they were still in the way, I don’t know if it was the adrenaline rush, or DMX barking in my ear, but I yelled “Excuse me, Excuse me, Excuse me!, and one bad little girl, thought she didn’t need to move…would you believe I “moved” her??? What is wrong with me??!! Apparently her friend had to hold her back off from fighting me…but you know what?  She got her butt out of my way, I guess she figured if this chick is crazy enough to push me, I might not want to mess with her.  My lil sister, thought she was going to have to leave her private school education to the side and re-discover her hood fighting instincts…Way to go Carli, I was a great role model that night… but on a positive note, after doing 2.5 miles on the track, we did another 40 minutes in the weight room.

My 1st Failure!

Oh geez, today was my 1st failure, I punked out about 2/3 of the way through my run, I got a cramp in my leg, and a cramp in my side.  I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t stretch good or had too much on my mind.  So I’ll be trying again on my day off tomorrow.  Failure is not an option….Well technically, it wasn’t a complete failure because I still did 2.32 Miles, I just didn’t run the whole time.  In good news, my lil sister did a test run for my new podcast that trains people to get off the couch and gradually learn to run like I did.  It was a success, she passed me up!  Oh yeah, me and the co-worker friend walked a mile at lunch.  I guess my “failure” wasn’t so bad after all.
