Week 1 Worksheet – 3 Steps To Get You Started On A New Morning Routine
I’m working on making myself a better person from the inside out and I challenge you to join me. I’ve attended blogger webinars, watched Oprah’s Life Class and gone to church to figure out how. The world renown health blogger Sarah Wilson said that you must have a morning routine. Oprah said you need to change the story to you tell yourself and the Pastor said you need to make daily confessions (also known as affirmations and positive self-talk.) After a week of reading watching and studying, these individuals, I came up with an action plan.
1) Step 1: Track it. My first step was to track my current AM habits. My morning routine includes, hitting the snooze button 3 times, letting Nyah out to potty, blasting the hilarious Rickey Smiley morning radio show while I’m in the shower, digging through my massive walk-in closet to find something to wear that fits and doesn’t need to be ironed, rushing to work, and being frustrated that I’m 5 minutes late.
2) Step 2: Prioritize it. I don’t have time for morning confessions and inspiration right? I don’t want to give up my morning radio show; I like to laugh at those goofballs. I’d be lying to myself and to you if I told you I was going to all of a sudden start waking up 6AM to read bible scriptures or tell myself warm and fuzzy thoughts in the mirror. But, I remembered what my favorite blogger Roni says. Do what you can, when you can. When do I have time? Well, when I roll out of bed, on my way to let Nyah out I can reflect on all of the things I’m grateful for, that’s easy enough right? Also, I have about 15 or 20 minutes in my car by myself on the way to work. Perhaps I can add something positive to my morning during that time.
3) Step 3 Plan it. Maybe I can rotate Joel Osteen’s Morning Devotions audio, some upbeat gospel and my newly purchased audio book for the bestselling book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”
I started tracking, prioritizing and planning my morning a few days ago, and found that it really helps set the tone for the day. My new routine was having such an impact that I wanted to find a way to share this with all of you. I was on the Weight Watcher website and found the 4 Week Rise and Shine Challenge. I will post the worksheet here on my blog each Monday for the next 4 weeks. The worksheet has space to schedule your healthy breakfast daily, morning activity at least 3 times a week, and morning inspiration. You should print and post the worksheet where you will see it every morning. I like to post things on my fridge and I have a copy on my desk at work. I think it’s a delicious recipe for success. I would like for you to join me on this 4 week challenge. Print out the Week 1 Worksheet and then Track your current routine, Prioritize your routine and Plan your new routine in a way that makes the most sense for your lifestyle. I would love to hear about your progress. We all have some kind of a morning routine, but I think we also have room for improvement.
