After my boot camp adventure on Tuesday, I felt a little sore.  On Wednesday, I still felt sore.  By Thursday, the pain was more concentrated and severe; so I went to the doctor.  I found out it was more than just being sore from boot camp.  I’ve got a minor medical issue.  I don’t want to go into too many details, but it’s something my doctor wants to watch for a few weeks, and see if it’ll take care of itself.  I sure hope it does, but in the meantime I’m supposed to take ibuprofen for the pain.  Additionally, my “problem” makes it really hard to exercise without enduring pain.  That’s the part I’m most upset about.  I thought “how in the world am I going to blog about “running into shape” when I CAN’T work out????” I’ve already missed Thursday’s and today’s boot camp class.  What the heck am I gonna do?…

I get e-mails almost every day saying how inspiring my blog is; so I decided to read some old posts for my own  inspiration during a tough time.   My stories about overcoming and having a “can do” attitude shocked me!….Did I really run a 3 Mile race, and then do it again, and again? Did I really work out on Valentine’s Day? Did I really get laid off during the recession and go straight to the gym  and not the donuts? Did I Really workout on Vacation? Did I really find my bible  and grow closer to God? Did I really create a website that’s had almost 20,000 visits?  Did I really create at 5K training podcast  to help people like me become more active?  Did I really pass the pre requisite CPR class needed on my journey to become a group fitness instructor?   You know what, YES I DID!!!!! And if I did all of those things that seemed impossible, then Gosh Darn It, I’ll get through this!

  1. I hope everything is okay! Just take things one day at a time and hopefully you’ll be back in the gym in no time!!!

  2. You are absolutely right. You’ve accomplished so much this far! So what’s a minor setback? Look at the time you would have spent exercising and use it to cook healthy recipes, work on your awesome website, or write in a journal. You can do it!

Thanks for being such an inspiration 🙂

  3. Don’t let it get you down! Is it possible for you to do arm exercises or some light weight-training on muscle groups that don’t hurt? What about some yoga or swimming? Maybe you can use this as a time to discover some other kinds of activity that you like. By the way, you rock. I love your podcasts and I’m on Week 3 now!

    • Rose I guess you’re right, my Mom said I should walk unless I want to make things worse. I can still do low impact stuff. Thanks for the advice.
